Consultation published 1 December 2009

Ofcom has extended the closing date of the consultation to 23 February 2010.

Ofcom has taken this decision for the following reasons:

• One of our stakeholders, UKCTA, has requested an extension to the previous consultation deadline. This request has been made on the grounds that the previously-notified 10 week consultation period (including Christmas and New Year) did not provide sufficient time to work through the full range of issues in the consultation document.
• While we believe that the previous deadline should in principle provide enough time for stakeholders to respond, and are keen to publish our proposals as soon as practically possible, we are also mindful that all stakeholders responses will be useful in informing our proposals, and therefore on this occasion we are prepared to extend the consultation period by two weeks.
